Position Summary

The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for overseeing all nursing services and clinical operations at Westview Manor of Peabody. This position ensures that residents receive high-quality care in accordance with state regulations, company policies, and best practices in long-term care. The Director of Nursing supervises nursing staff, ensures compliance with Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS) regulations, and promotes a safe, compassionate, and resident-centered environment.

The DON works closely with administration to support the facility’s mission of providing dignified, personalized care while maintaining regulatory compliance and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Oversight

  • Oversee all nursing services within the facility to ensure residents receive appropriate and quality care.
  • Monitor resident health status and coordinate care with physicians, pharmacies, and other healthcare providers.
  • Review and ensure proper completion of nursing documentation and resident records.
  • Ensure medication administration practices are safe and compliant with regulations.
  • Assist in development, implementation, and monitoring of resident care plans.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all KDADS regulations and state licensing requirements.
  • Maintain readiness for state surveys and inspections.
  • Monitor infection control practices and ensure adherence to health and safety standards.
  • Implement policies and procedures consistent with regulatory requirements and best practices.

Staff Leadership and Supervision

  • Supervise and support nursing staff including LPNs, CMAs, and CNAs.
  • Participate in hiring, orientation, training, and evaluation of nursing staff.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and education to ensure staff competency.
  • Address performance issues and assist with corrective action when necessary.

Quality Assurance and Risk Management

  • Monitor incidents, falls, medication errors, and resident concerns.
  • Implement corrective actions and quality improvement measures.
  • Ensure proper reporting and documentation of incidents and significant events.
  • Support ongoing quality assurance initiatives.

Resident Advocacy and Family Communication

  • Promote resident rights and dignity at all times.
  • Communicate with residents and families regarding care concerns or changes in condition.
  • Assist with addressing complaints and resolving care-related concerns.

Collaboration with Administration

  • Work closely with facility administration to support operational goals.
  • Participate in care meetings, staff meetings, and quality assurance reviews.
  • Assist with policy development and implementation.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing in the State of Kansas.
  • Experience in long-term care, assisted living, or residential care preferred.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of KDADS regulations and long-term care standards.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
