This position is for a 9-month non-tenure track, Assistant or Associate Professor of Practice faculty position (commensurate upon education and experience) in the Department of Educational Leadership and Human Services. This position may include opportunities for teaching additional courses/overload.<br><br>The Educational Leadership and Human Services Department seeks experienced counselor education candidates who have expertise in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC). The counseling program at SJU launched in Fall 2021 and its self-study is currently under review with CACREP. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to be influential in the continued design and development of this graduate program. All materials should be uploaded before submitting the job application. </span></p><p></p><p><b>Essential Duties & Responsibilities:</b></p><p><span>Teaching and Learning </span></p><ul><li><p><span>Developing and teaching online (synchronous and asynchronous) graduate courses in the CMHC program. </span></p></li><li><p><span>SJU teaching load is 24 credit hours distributed over 12-months according to program need. Each course is 3-credit </span><span>hours. For example, teaching load may be 4 courses in fall and </span><span>spring, or may be 3 fall, 3 spring and 2 summer courses. </span></p></li><li><p><span>Providing ongoing advisement to graduate-level counseling students </span></p></li><li><p><span>Summer teaching opportunities available </span></p></li></ul><p></p><p><span>Supervision and Clinical Experiences </span></p><ul><li><p><span>Align clinical experiences with SEHD vision for community partnerships </span><span>○ </span><span>Supervise practicum and internship students </span></p></li><li><p><span>Provide leadership related to best practices in clinical experiences</span></p></li><li><p><span>Use technology to improve clinical experiences </span></p></li></ul><p></p><p><span>Service </span></p><ul><li><p><span>Service on university, department, and program committees </span></p></li><li><p><span>Service to the counseling profession and community </span></p></li><li><p><span>Service to the program is continuous across the calendar year in </span><span>preparation for CACREP accreditation needs. </span></p></li></ul><p></p><p><span>Other duties as assigned </span></p><p></p><p><b>Minimum Qualifications:</b></p><p><b>Required: </b></p><ul><li>Earned PhD (no later than May 2026) from a CACREP accredited Counselor Educator and Supervision Program<span>.</span></li><li><p><span>Licensure as an LPC or LMHC </span></p></li><li><p><span>Active certification as a National Certified Counselor (NCC) </span></p></li><li><p><span>Evidence of a comprehensive counseling background and professional counselor identity </span></p></li><li><p><span>Evidence of capacity to develop and successfully teach synchronous and asynchronous core, elective, and special topics online courses using the Canvas learning management system </span></p></li><li><p><span>Evidence of active commitment to social justice and advocacy in counseling</span></p></li><li><p><span>Experience of and commitment toward supporting CACREP accreditation processes </span></p></li><li><p><span>Applications for Associate Professor of Practice must show evidence of cumulative service to university, program, and community; history of scholarship, fulfillment of leadership responsibilities, and previous promotion to Associate Professor rank if applicable </span></p></li><li><p><span>Campus presence optional, some university-funded travel required for remote employees (such as residency, school retreats, etc.). </span></p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>Preferred: </b></p><ul><li><p><span>Certification as an approved clinical supervisor (ACS)</span></p></li><li><p><span>Prior teaching experience in counselor education programs, evidence of culturally responsive and inclusive teaching methods.
